Good Vs. Better

DAMN.

We were caught off guard. Everybody was literally speechless right after the ending credits and didn’t know what to say. At least, I was.

The Dark Knight was so good, no, it was THE BEST. I didn’t even know where to begin with to put it in words. I can’t remember the last time I had this feeling after watching a film. Matrix, yes, Transformers The Movie, yes, Cloverfield, yes. But tonight was different. A lot different.

It’s not your run-of-the-mill superhero film. It was certainly much more than that. It is comic-book-turn-blockbuster-film for the adults, and the U rating should’ve been 18-SG or PL, IMHO.

Yes, it has all the cool new gadgets and action packed, random surprising scenes. But I was more taken in by the dark and very mature story and script of the film. Seriously, I still couldn’t believe and didn’t expect it to be this good. My brain is still trying to digest what just happened at the Mid Valley GSC tonight.

It was excellent, brilliant, shocking, beautiful and if I may, flawlessly executed. It was almost surreal.

Director Christopher Nolan and his Oscar Award-winning crews really nail it this time with the second installment of the re-franchised Batman film. They have come a long way since the 2005’s Batman Begins and The Dark Knight is a giant leap. A huge one. It’s as if it will become a signature and trademark or trendsetter for the rest of the future superhero films. Surely, upcoming flicks gonna have a hard time beating this one.

Christian Bale and the rest of the star-studded supporting casts did a very well done job, better than the last one. And then of course, there’s the late Heath Ledger as the arch nemesis, Joker.

I don’t know if it’s the fact because he died after shooting the film, or is it his awesome acting that made the Joker so psycho pathically-anarchistic and somewhat artistically, good. I’m sure Jack Nicholson would’ve take his hat off to Ledger.

Those who watched would agree that this film “made” him, more than Brokeback Mountain or any of his previous works. It’s such a great loss for the rest of us in the film industry, makers or watchers, to see him passed away a tad too soon. And the fact that he’s now more famous posthumously.

You could really feel his presence in the film. He really took the bad guy role to a new, unexplored level. The magnitude of Joker’s crime was so grand and evil, though he did it all his own way, passionately. I’m still having trouble to get his manic evil antics out of my head and that eerie, suspense climatic soundtrack that accompanies his scenes.

I don’t wanna give you the lowdown about the plot, sub-plots, twists, etc. and spoil it for you, not like everybody else’s review lying around the blogosphere. You can read that elsewhere, or go here.

I just want you to go and watch the film before the screening ends in a few weeks. Please watch it. I doesn’t matter if it’s because one of the actors died, or you’re a fan-boy/girl or it’s the most anticipated film of the year, but expect the unexpected and get ready to be blown away. Rating: 6/5.

VAVIIII JOKER TU JAHAT NAK MAMPUS SIALLL!!!!! kecilakean dia mmg melapau siut!!

Demnit you know joker deserves to die so its poetic that he did, but damnit then pasni sape yg mampu nak jadik as evil as him. (ledger i mean)
plus kalau ko ada baca the dark knight series, the captured the essence of batman (& the villians) dgn dahsyatnya!

“batman isn’t a hero. being a hero is easy if you can. he is something more than just a hero.” ~ini bukan quote drp movie, tp dr komiknya yek
continuation from the 1st one where batman bukan sahaja penegak keadilan, but an idea, juga sgt bagus.

but, not 6 out of 5. aku bg 5/5. which is damn good la tuh. sial pjg ake merepek nih. Xumb aku nak gi tgk lagi laaa!!!!
