Orgasmica Spectrumeseum

Today’s KLue Urbanscapes 2008 would’ve been alot smoother if it weren’t for the (damn) hot weather(even after it rained) and over-priced food(RM7 for a hotdog!?(nasib baik sedap)). But we still had a BLAST nevertheless!

The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre in Sentul Park was crowded with people from all walks of life, mostly in their 20’s, looking all colorful and hip and eager to check out the latest local new wave of art, music, film, photography and fashion.

The all-day art event had so many things to offer but all went on at the same time, so some people had trouble making choices. I for one, wanted to see Auburn, KokoKaina and Altimet, but all three played at 6:30PM at three different stages! But since Kokokaina don’t play as much shows as the other two, I chose to watch her set. And my oh my she was awesome! Her 2 cover songs, 4 originals and 3 new songs set really rocked the house! And I managed to film the whole set too!(will upload the videos tomorrow)

There were many cool stuff to check out at the event, but most of the time I just hangout with some old friends and catch up on things. It was like a reunion! Me love Futuna had her first photo exhibition/sale at the ThreadsZoo booth at the Marketplace, and managed to sell off some of her limited edition series art/photowork! Yeay! There’s some more prints left, check ‘em out and place your orders here.

Some of the other good stuff that I managed to catch was Exo Rage(side project of Stixx and Lando of Shock System) at the Bijou Bazaar Acoustic Session at the Lake Side Stage, The Otherside Orchestra and Joe Flizzow at the X Pax Box, Digital Malaya Project at the Gallery, Otam at the Acoustic Livehouse and They Will Kill Us All at the Lawn Stage.

The peeps from RandomAlphabets, who did the KL Freeze and KLX flashmob, was at it again, something like ImprovEverywhere’s ‘Rob!’ at the Yankees Stadium. But today’s “victim” was Adrian Yap, chief editor/big boss of KLue. After the agents involved screamed for “Adrian! Where are you!?” and asked bystanders “Have you seen Adrian?”, in minutes people were somewhat “amused” and some even joined the fun! Yours truly volunteered at the video department. See photos and review soon here.

After a full day of heavy dose of artsy-fartsy galore, we left KLPAC at 11PM and went straight home. It was an EXHAUSTING(and melekit) day indeed but soul-feeding nevertheless. It’s great to see our fresh homegrown art movers and shakers working at a large scale all in one place. I’m sure many who went certainly would like to see more events like these in the future.

Kudos to KLue and everyone involved for making it an awesome “all day creative arts festival”!

Check out the KLue and Urbanscapes official website for photos/videos and review soon.
