Long Way To Go

I was in KL today for a “profession shifting assessment rendezvous”, and here’s what happened when I was on my way to the office’s lounge area;

[INT. OFFICE - DAY]

Guy: WEH!!!
Me: (smiled) Uh… Weh! (and shook hands)
Guy: MACAM KENAL LAH!
Me: Hmmm… (puzzled) Ye ke? Jumpa kat mana eh?
Guy: Tu lah, tak ingat. Tapi muka kau memang familiar!
Me: Ye ke, biasalah muka bersepah bro!
Guy: Eh, tak tak, betullah memang kita pernah jumpa! (then shouted at his friend in the other room down the hall) Weh, kau kenal tak brader ni!?
Guy 2: (After came running down from his room) Haah lah, macam kenal, tapi di mana ya?
Guy 1: Ha tu lah, aku rasa kita pernah buat job sama-sama kot?
(Note that while this whole conversation was going, Guy 1 was still firmly holding my hand. And was very confidently thought that we’ve met before.)
Me: Mungkin lah kot. (trying to remain cool and keeping my smile while my cerebrum is hard at work trying to figure out when and wheredahell did I meet him!?)
Guy 1 and 2: Hmm… (looking at me up and down)
Me: Hehehe…
Guy 1: Kau kerja mana?
Me: Cyberjaya.
Guy 1: Ha… mungkin kat MSC punya exhibition dulu!
Me: Haah kot! (eventhough I never went to any exhibitions in Cyberjaya)
Guy 1: Hahaha ye lah tu!
Me: Hahaha! (then came the receptionist(to the rescue))
Girl: Mr. Zam, please be seated and fill this form. Ms. Pat will be with you in a moment.
Me: Thanks! Bro, saya gerak dulu eh? Nanti kita sembang lagi.
Guy 1 and 2: Ha, OK OK OK, selamat! (and let go my hand)

Phew!

I’m sure some of you may have experienced the same situation at least once and would face it with much more confidence than I did. Don’t get me wrong, I too sometimes made the same “hey-you-look-familiar!” mistake and went on a full conversation with the poor individuals.

One thing that came to mind, maybe the guy did met somebody that looked exactly like me. Maybe that’s what they say by “Pelanduk dua serupa” and there are 7 people that share the same physical resemblance in this world. Wouldn’t it be cool to meet all of our 6 “otherselves”?
