Karipap Daging’s Actorlympics Idol Review (Pt. 1/2)
If it wasn’t for Laydiefa’s post the other day, we wouldn’t be at tonight’s Actorlympics Show. Thanks for the heads up sistah! I think this is the third time(or is it fourth?) me and lover Nadia, buddy Fairuz and fiance Sara watch the show at Actors Studio in Bangsar Shopping Centre. ‘Actorlympics Idol‘ was the title this time, and we didn’t(couldn’t) stop laughing our asses off the whole two and a half hours!
In a nutshell, Actorlympics is the Malaysian version of Who’s Line Is It Anyway? featuring some of the local new wave of performers and comedians, Afdlin Shauki, Harith Iskandar, Rashid Salleh, Douglas Lim, Gavin Yap, Joanna Bessey, Reza Zainal Abidin, Ida Nerina and Patrick Teoh as the host. The games are played on the spot spontaneously and improvised without any scripts or rehearsal with sole participation from the audience members giving suggestions on clues, scene or act to be played on.
The show started off with the ‘Alphabet Game’ where four actors have to act out a scene(in this case; watching two alligators mating!) and each have to begin their dialogs in alphabetical order, like one would start “What is that?” then the next say “Xylaphone! The crocodile looks like a xylaphone!” then the third player asked “You sure?” then “Zoom in and check lah!”, and continue back to A, B, C… until all 26 letters are used. It started out somewhat wrong, in a good way, but ended well making quite a sense to the whole act!
Players have to come up with “innovative” ideas to make use of the random objects given in ‘Props’. My favorite was when one of the team was given a shopping cart and acted it as if it’s a Transformers robot! ‘Guessing Game’ is when a chosen player(Douglas Lim) have to guess what scene, character and place acted by the rest of the casts while giving him clues of relevant and irrelevant things related to the scene, which was a tanning salon and the clues were ’some VIP’s wife, a comb, a lotion’ and the unrelated things were ’sheep, dark-skinned men and a religious leader’. Kudos to Douglas for getting it all right!

nevertheless..actorlympix rawks la!!! but i think its abt time they pull out that one laydee lah
hahaha takleh blah doh! hands down 10 times waaay much better and funnier than senario lah!
